Drip Society is a self-initiated passion project exploring the world of specialty coffee, culture and community. Built around the idea that coffee is more than just what’s in the cup, Drip Society brings together bold branding, good coffee and a little attitude to create a brand that feels social, contemporary and full of personality.

A chance to have some fun, push the visual language and create the kind of coffee brand you’d actually want to be part of.

Insight 01

Rationale

Drip Society started as a passion project, a chance to step away from client work, create something purely for the fun of it and explore a sector I’d love to do more work in.

Passion projects give me the freedom to experiment, take a few risks and follow an idea without all the usual constraints. But that doesn’t mean designing without purpose. For Drip Society, I wanted to explore how a coffee brand could feel less like a traditional café and more like a culture and lifestyle brand — something people would want to wear, carry and be part of.

The result is a fictional brand built around good coffee, good people and a shared love of the drip.

Insight 02

Design

The identity starts with a bold, condensed wordmark designed to feel confident, contemporary and slightly unconventional. At the centre, the “I” becomes a falling coffee drip, turning a simple visual idea into something ownable for the brand. That drip then becomes a recurring part of the wider identity, appearing across cups, packaging and applications to create consistency without needing to plaster the full logo everywhere.

The heavy typography is balanced with a more expressive, almost handwritten “society”, bringing some personality and culture into the mark. The stripped-back black and off-white palette keeps everything raw and confident, while giving the typography, illustration and messaging room to do the talking. Character illustration adds another layer of personality, helping Drip Society feel less like a traditional coffee shop and more like a brand with its own little world, attitude and community around it.

Insight 03

Packaging

The packaging was intentionally kept minimal, bold and uncomplicated, creating a system that feels confident without trying too hard.

Rather than filling every available space, the layouts use scale, contrast and plenty of breathing room to let the core elements of the identity stand out. The oversized wordmark becomes the hero, while the drip graphic can appear independently across cups, carriers and packaging to build recognition in a more subtle way.

The restricted black and off-white palette keeps the system feeling raw, modern and cohesive, while also making it incredibly flexible. Whether it’s a takeaway cup, four-pack or iced coffee can, everything feels like it comes from the same place. Even the product information is deliberately understated, creating a clear hierarchy where the brand comes first and everything else earns its place.
